Overview of our brand new mining farm management solution, Braiins OS+ Manager, and how to get started using it.
Since we first launched Braiins OS+ about a year ago, one of the top feature requests has been a solution for easily monitoring and batch configuring devices. Together with FarmGod, we’ve been working on making this a reality. Today, after months of private testing and tinkering, we’re excited to begin offering the Braiins OS+ Manager publicly for anybody with Antminer S9s running Braiins OS+.
We are also working on a substantial update for the Antminer X17 family of devices, which will include support for Braiins OS+ Manager. It will initially come as a nightly build for those who wish to test it out. The full release will follow in the weeks afterwards. Get the news first: https://t.me/Braiins
There are several monitoring and management solutions on the market, some of which already support Braiins OS+ (BTC Tools, Minerstat, and others). However, there were no existing solutions which had the full feature set and specifications that we want to provide to our miners. A few solutions can only be run locally (i.e. not remotely / not online), while others aren’t able to offer some of the custom features we’ve added to Braiins OS+ in the past year, like Dynamic Power Scaling. Moreover, most of these solutions have a fee when being used at scale.
Braiins OS+ Manager is a completely free platform for Braiins OS+ miners and it will always be so for an unlimited number of devices. One of the key features is that it is cloud-based, meaning that you can easily manage and monitor your farm remotely. FarmGod is working on an enterprise solution with more cutting-edge features that will eventually support additional hardware models and firmwares, but all of the essential features will be part of the Braiins OS+ Manager.
Additionally, having a hand in the development enabled us to implement the next-generation Stratum V2 protocol. This makes the manager more efficient because data transfers are lighter and less frequent than with Stratum V1. More importantly, it enables all configuration and telemetry data to be sent via encrypted connections, protecting miners against eavesdropping and man-in-the-middle attacks.
In order to connect to the Braiins OS+ Manager, your S9 devices will need to be running Braiins OS+ 21.04 (or a subsequent release). This release does not include significant changes for the Antminer S9 firmware itself, so auto-upgrade is not enabled.
Follow the step-by-step instructions in the documentation to upgrade your firmware and connect to Braiins OS+ Manager (see docs).
The update for X17 devices will include performance improvements for the tuner, S17e and T17e support, and it will enable use of the Manager. To get notified immediately when the 21.04 release for X17s is made public, subscribe to our announcements channel on Telegram.
As for what’s new with Braiins OS+ 21.04, there are no changes to performance and the key feature is enabling the Braiins OS+ Manager. The release also includes the following bug fix: fixed an issue with long reconnect to pools when the public IP was changed.
Combining overclocking with autotuning continues to be a solid strategy for optimizing Antminer S9 profitability. At current BTC price and difficulty, S9s are profiting over $5/day with 1500 W consumption, 17 TH/s hashrate, and $0.04/kWh.
Meanwhile, at-home miners with more expensive electricity (e.g. $0.10/kWh) can use Low Power Mode settings to boost efficiency and still profit $2.35/day.

As mentioned above, the next big release that’s coming is a major X17 update which will also enable Braiins OS+ Manager with all X17 devices. Beyond that, our focus is adding support for Whatsminer machines, starting with the M20S. We will keep you informed as we get closer to a release, but make sure you’re subscribed to our Telegram announcements channel to get the news first: https://t.me/Braiins.
